Oh - and the fretboard is black palm. Never seen that before - except on end grain on some accent pieces here and there. It's also a renewable. I'm not sure the pictures are high enough res for you to see the grain - but the grain is in a random pattern longitudinally with the neck - lighter 1/4-1/2" long grains against the black back. Very nice.

I changed the title to indicate which guitar this thread was discussing - not to phish for new readers!

And, an update. I am liking this guitar more and more - both in tone and playability. And a confirmation from another - my guitar instructor / prof mentioned the other day just offhand - "that guitar really sounds good"!

This for a small body with renewable woods!

Cheers all,

Phil

Congratulations!

Back when I was in my couch guitar phase, I commissioned a Retreux from Mike. It was a hell of a guitar, so I can only imagine how good your parlor is.

Thanks for sharing and play it in good health!!!!

That little thing is a visual masterpiece.
Well your post inspired me to tune down a step with my parlor. I like the rich bass. So congrats and thanks!

Belated congratulations, Phil! What a little beauty! Glad to hear you've found a Retreux that keeps you coming back for more.

My Aloha Koa (Retreux Parlor #9) remains a wholly addictive guitar.

For those interested, the fiddleback mahogany Parlor mentioned in the OP is now available on reverb, as is the larger 00.

I should mention that Phil has performed live with his Retreux Parlor. Apparently, the guitar was perfect for the setting and repertoire.

In my experience, it is great for accompanying singer/songwriter types. So much tone and expressiveness in a beautiful little package and so easy to play!

Smile Baranik

Sorry to resurrect a zombie thread, but I can't believe I missed this one.

Congratulations Phil! I especially like the black palm fingerboard, as I have never seen one like it. The black palm on the rosette of my Baranik "Black and Blue" CX is one of my favorite parts.

I too am in self-imposed isolation due to the spread of the Coronavirus, so I have been trying to play more guitar. Darn!

Glad to see you still posting Phil.

Hey no problem resurrecting the thread! (it is Easter season, after all...).

The little guitar continues to impress me. As Tim McKnight told me one time - and others have said this too - the adirondack takes some time to re-awaken - 30 minutes more or less. It then hits a new "step" that really sounds amazing. It's happened too many times for me to write it off as my imagination.

My next "last build" by Mike will have a sister top to this one.

Just a cool guitar, comfortable to play, and folks like how it sounds as much as I do.

Cheers all,
Phil
