Default Anyone have any idea as to what brand this guitar is

Picked up this guitar yesterday,
Label has come of in the sound hole ..
Judging by the patina of the wood it's I would say
70s late 70s.
Nice and good weight and sounds very sweet.
Was thinking someone here might have an idea
After looking at the pics ..

Cheers in advance

I'm certainly no expert but the headstock looks like Martin. Which model, I have absolutely no idea.

Sorry,
PJ

The shot thru the soundhole looks to be a solid top. With no markings, I'll take a swing and say it's a Harmony. Is there any ink stamp on the inside back of the guitar?

Whatever it is, it has water damage inside and out.

It’s not a Martin - the overall proportions are off. The dots on the bridge are probably covering screws holding the bridge on. GP101, if you have or can get a dental mirror and look inside at the bridge, you can tell whether there are any nuts and bolts in there.

Even if the dots on the bridge are purely decorative and aren’t covering any hardware (which is the usual reason for pearl dots inlaid on a bridge,) Martin has never put dots there. So it’s definitely not a Martin.

My guess is that it’s a Japanese Martin copy from the 1970’s or early 80’s. Someone blitzed off the headstock logo, possibly with the intention of doing a home refinishing job.

Then the guitar got wet long enough to stain the guitar. But since it doesn’t appear to have split or warped or pulled apart, from a structural standpoint it’s probably okay.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for all the info,
I will have a look today to see if there are any markings stamped on the inside.
I was told maybe a sigma copy of a d19..

But in saying that I honestly don't know.

But cheers for the comments from everyone.
Now to look inside,
And yes might have water damage but frets are still nice
And holds tune, and actually sounds pretty sweet.
I've got a few people wanting to buy we'll have been
Over whelmed with offers, do they know something I don't 🤔

Ok I've checked inside and found a stamp **11078**
I would say well I think maybe Japanese made in 1978
That's what I'm thinking 🤔

Also, the pic of the bridge looks as if it was replaced. Making it near impossible to id. If it sounds and plays good to you, then it is good. Does look like a 70s early eighties copy, I have quite a few of those, make great guitars for the money.

You obviously can't beat the price, especially if it works as a good utility instrument. It's not likely to win any beauty contests, but - when I think about it - neither am I!
