I used to carry one in our RV so I could practice while we were driving down the highway. Sounds like what you are looking for.

I still own it (VOX AP2AC amPlug 2 AC30 Guitar Headphone Amplifier), which runs on a couple AAA batteries. I has a folding (rotating) ¼" plug for storage, and it's simple to operate (multi-functional buttons).

There may be some bluetooth or recharging units listed… My non-bluetooth, plain old batteries unit is simple and it works well.

My Vox is still working after a decade.

Ok, I'm sure you can tell,,,I'm a newcomer to this stuff. I looked at the photos...I see a large jack on the thing. Does that plug into the guitar? If so, how do you plug headphones into it?

Yes, it plugs into the guitar just like (and in lieu of) a guitar cable. Then you plug your headphones into a 1/8" jack on the little headphone amp.

yes, it will work.
