I echo this and have identical experience. I used Bose L1 Compacts for years, but upgraded to the Bose L1 Pro 8 when they were released. the L1 Pro 8 is much more capable. I also have had great success using a Bose S1 Pro as an extension speaker or personal monitor.

I got a mini speaker stand for mine.
The mini stand puts the speaker at the same height as the top of the JBL Tower.
The stand is small and light weight.
Hi L20A, can you please share the make and model of the mini speaker stand you are using? I'm looking for something similar and curious to know what you have. Thanks so much.

This is the one that I use.

I really like it. Very compact and light.
The only draw back is how high it can get.
The top of my speaker is at about 5', when on this stand.
I have a taller stand for times that I need more height.

Do you think the L1 Compact would be enough for a noisy bar? Or should I consider buying a more powerful PA system? I plan on booking more of these types of gigs in the future so I would be open to selling the L1 Compact to invest in something different.
I had one for a brief time. Never used it in a noisy setting though. I did however go see a solo performer with one at a small crowded pub. She fought with it all evening attempting to get the volume to push enough. Several patrons and bar staff were asking her to turn up.

I felt bad for her. Always a bummer to be in a live situation and find out you don't have enough power to cover the gig.

I use an S1 Pro for small gigs if I know it's the type of gig where people are there to listen and not talk.

I would NEVER attempt to take it as a "stand alone speaker" on a bar gig though.
Same for the L1C.

Just my two cents.

That was the other reason I decided to buy another standalone powered speaker. It gives me more volume and spread at loud events, but also gives me a backup if one of the system fails. I would at least have one powered speaker left.

I use a JBL Eon One Tower that is much like the Bose L1.
The JBL sits on one side of the band and the Alto is placed on the other side of us. The Alto is on a small speaker stand.

This combination gives me good coverage and plenty of power when needed for small to medium size rooms, noisy or not.
How do yo balance the output of both?
