I didn't even know it was for sale. That one might have gotten me in way too much trouble with the wife.

I believe I predicted this quite a while ago. I knew that guitar would never make it to a show unless it's new owner allowed it to go just to show it off.
I think the maple will suffer from the same experience. Wonder what Mr. Hatcher has up his sleeve next?

Seems parlors are hard to hold onto. That's not such a bad thing

Thanks Tom! Yea I think that maple may go pretty quickly when all is said and done. There are still a couple of surprises coming with that one. My second show spec should be back from the finisher in a week or two. This is a BRW/Cedar Greta grand auditorium model. I am French polishing the top when that comes back so it won't be finished for another month from when I get it back. My fourth show spec will be a Black Ebony Penelope with a Swiss Moon Spruce top. It will be trimmed with curly Koa and abalone and will feature an elevated fretboard on a Koa neck. This guitar will have a full body. I'm also moving right along on another Piña parlor which is a client's custom order I'm keeping busy!

Hi Mark,
I am enjoying following this thread. I plan on being in Santa Barbara in the fall and look forward to playing and hearing some of your beauties. Best, Jayne |

Thanks for following along! I'm sorry to say I won't make the Santa Barbara show this year as I missed the cutoff to register. I will do future shows there. The next possible show that I may be able to do would be Memphis next year. Thanks again, Mark

More Details
Today I got my Cocobolo end pins in. I had some nice comments on the curvy endgraft I'm doing on the curly maple small jumbo. The curves were made in an effort to accentuate the figure in the wood. I think the Cocobolo end pin also helps make some sense of the curved end graft.
Details, details, details Thanks for looking! Mark

Neck
This week I've been working on the neck. I am using Hard Maple or Sugar Maple because it is, as the name says, harder than the other maple which is more suitable for neck wood. Especially since I am going with wood with some figure in it. The center Cocobolo laminate and purfling lines are the same thickness as the center graft on the guitar's back so we'll have one continuous strait line the full length of the back of the guitar to contrast with all that figure;
Here I am gluing on the head plate which is the same quilted Big Leaf Maple the body is plus Cocobolo highlights we'll see soon; Thanks for following along! Mark

Very nice wood selection. That cocobolo really compliments the maple.

Beautiful neck, Mark--I've always liked that detail where the center lamination follows up continuously from the backstrip. Looking forward to seeing this one all come together!

I am very happy how this one is coming along. I'm hoping to wrap it up for finishing by the end of next week. Just a lot of neck work and clean up. Quote:
Thanks again! Mark

Very pretty neck, but I don't think anything you could have picked will match that body at least for figure. I am sure you will get the colors the same, but that quilted back is beyond words.
