Thank you gentlemen! This really has been a fun project. The idea for this came from Miles at Miami Guitars, and it reinforces the concept of collaborations. Namely, I never would have thought of this on my own. It is quite the experience when customers push you out of your comfort zone. And immensely rewarding when it turns out to be a startling success.
Thank you Miles...and again my thanks for the kind words here!

Steve

Smile Tony Ferguson, the Finish Wizard!

Discussing the fade from one color to another, I asked him to pattern the gradual change in the colors of the water, greener to bluer. Not sure he stood at water's edge for inspiration, but he nailed the gradual transition. I've never seen such a seamless change.

Glad you guys like it, thanks!

Tony is a MASTER!!! His finishing is super thin and super hard. I am often amazed at the BONKS that just bounce off his work! Thanks Tony!!!!
This is some real eye candy, for sure

Looking good. Is that a rosewood center on the right?

Indeed it is. It’s a center of Kingwood. It’s for a Madagascar Rosewood OM with colored wood inlay...which may sound familiar.

Thanks Dennis, and yes...good eye...that is rosewood.
Mexican Kingwood to be precise. This will be the neck on an OM, using that last set of Madagascar rosewood. You might recognize it when the pics come up.

It's a bit overdue, so let me haste to revive this thread with some of our recent work. Stay tuned...

As I was saying, I'd like to share a couple of shots (or so) of some recent work. This is a multi-scale baritone being built for a friend. When we found this set of Spalted Bird's eye maple at the 2018 Woodstock festival, it was just too interesting to pass up. As with all spalted woods, there were some issues to attend to. But the wood has been stabilized and is already yielding its showroom pizzazz:

Thanks for looking,

Cool! I love Baritones, and I bet this one will be stellar.

Hey thanks, Dan, glad you stopped by! Already, this thing thumps like a Howitzer. On instruments like this we get to experiment a bit. I'm trying something a bit different with the back braces, and so far it is quite promising.
We'll report how successful we were...

Steve

Thank you Tom, I appreciate that! Maybe we can convince the future owner to show this at B.I.G.er? (He resides in Bastrop, TX.)

I remember last year you mentioned he might come. Does he have any interest this year?
