I've been always a fan of CA's styling. To my eye brilliant industrial design (clearly in the eye of the beholder). But for me, in a contest for ugly it would be no contest that Emeralds are the winner (the wood veneer on some does not overcome the physical design for me). Not a comment on ergonomics.

I had one other thought about the video you posted. In all my years of playing I've always found an HD-28 a benchmark for great guitar tone, but it actually sounded sort of tinny when I played the video back through high quality speakers. No doubt that video is selling some X-30s, but I would be concerned that however it was recorded does not reproduce my experience with a well known benchmark.
With you 100% Jon!

Never seen an Emerald much less play one. This would be a good time for me to say the phrase, "I have no dog in this fight".

But Jon, a way back you also said the OF660 is "ugly". Now them there is fightin' words

Anybody who wants can send me their Emerald for a full aesthetic evaluation. Any model will do. I'm not picky

I must confess I forgot about Journey's crimes against traditional guitar design when I wrote that post :~) !

When I look at a GX, X, GX-OS, and Cargo my mind goes cool, an acoustic Stratocaster (functional, different, sleek). Most of the other non-traditional designs somehow don't trigger the same neurons for me :~(. Though when I owned those CAs I had to put felt on the lower waist to stop the Ovation sliding effect.

So you don't see that the recording was optimized for the X30 thereby distorting the tone of the HD-28?

Hi Chris, Sorry I should have clarified, I disagree that Emeralds are ugly, and i think that the D-28 has been the standard for many years as opposed to the HD-28. I had a D-28 for many years, wonderful guitar. It's hard for me to compare an 28 to an Emerald, they are so different in form and function. I never put any faith on what I hear on Youtube. I do prefer the X20 to the big Martin by experience. But I prefer my 000-15sm to the previous version X7 that I had. We all like different things, so Jon can think Emeralds are ugly and I can think they are a work of art. It's all good.

Well, I put a lot of faith in the informative and truthful things that I see on youtube. How can we not believe that we are being visited by aliens, for example?

But when it comes to guitars, I am extra skeptical about what I am hearing and seeing.

I don't believe carbon fiber guitars exist, so this video was faked somehow (that honeycomb top is a dead giveaway - they didn't even try to make it look like a real guitar), but the music is good anyway.

I like my Sable fine, it's very nicely finished, but it's kind of ugly, quiet, and boring compared to the X30. I'm not sure what special thing it has to offer.
Effective with the new Sables from April, 2018.

Hi Earl,
To quote Kramster...Yup! I'm bringing my just received Emerald X20 Ziricote woody to have a comparison with Palolo Warrior's new McPherson Sable. Looking forward to a fun time next week!
