  This is the guitar sealed and the binding taped off in preparation for the black paint. I find it much easier to tape rather than scrape the binding.  This is the tape I use-great stuff-leaves a very clean line.   Not a god picture-but that's where I'm at to this point. One more round of clear coats-then 3 weeks to dry before buffing.

Well, for weeks has gone by(didn't that seem quick!) and I am finishing this git.
I strung it up last night at around midnight and MAN it ROARS!!! I am a very happy camper! So here are some pics to bring it up to date:  Prepping under the fretboard  Gluing the "tongue".  Truing the fretboard.  the rough cut nut-this picture gives you an idea how thick the low E string is -.066  Hard to see in this photo-I compensate every string so it plays in tune all the way up the neck  The new logo decal- sorry for all the dust.

 Here she is playable ,but not done-still need to finish the nut and bridge and make a pearloid pickguard.

The nut is set as if it was a fret higher than the fist fret. On a slide (Hawaiian) guitar the nut is very much higher so the slide won't hit the frets-so you can't play it like a regular guitar. It is not a commission and will be for sale-you can email me if you are interested in it ( not sure of the policy on this forum with regard to posting prices, as i am new here.). I usually sell them when I finish the next one,so I have something to show customers. There is one for sale on ebay right now.

No, not lap slide, Spanish. On a lot of 12 strings, the octave string sits lower in the nut than the heavier string, or possibly at the same height, but being of smaller diameter, is physically lower than the heavier string. Just wondering if you even them out for playing.
In other words, if you drag a bottleneck across, say, the bottom 4 strings (2 courses) would the bottleneck hit them evenly?
