Default Recording To An Ipad

What do you need to record a video with good sound to an Ipad pro?
I'm looking to stay under three hundred dollars all in, if that is possible.
I have guitars, and an Ipad so what else is necessary to get a relatively nice sounding video? I'm looking forward to the replies and doing a test run!
Happy New Year cool cats!

Hi Chickee

Why not spend $279 and just buy a Zoom H5 (which you can add onto later) and it has a headphone jack, and comes with a basic 2 mic capsule, and you can add modules, plug in XLR or ¼" mics etc.

It'd be as easy (or easier) to manage than recording into an iPad with an interface. You can always record the audio separate and then replace the iPad audio in post processing. Lots of ways to tackle this process.

There is another discussion on this topic in the thread right now (first week Jan 2019) which talks about recording into iOS devices.

Have fun exploring…

The video on the iPad Pro 2018 (newest) is equivalent to the current phones, but last version before this is lacking in the video arena. Good enough for YouTube though.

Larry,
The Zoom is a recorder, right? I’m looking to shoot little videos with somewhat decent sound. Maybe I’m missing something?

I got the IK media IRig “mic studio” a large-condensor mic that also plugs directly into the lightning connector and have been very favorably impressed with it for both voice and acoustic guitar. Haven’t tried it on micing an amp, yet, though.

The Apogee and IRig setups look very interesting. Thank you folks.

Used to record videos on my iPad and understand how it may reveal frustrating as sound miss definition and Youtube finishes the job : wanted to compare four OM guitars that finally all sounded quite the same !

My son gave an iRig mic at Christmas a year ago. It would record sound a bit better. The free limited software works fine.

A friend of mine has been using a video camera for years now : he can put many synchronized takes side by side to make a montage wher he plays different parts and instruments.
