Hi folks,
just been enjoying all the images going back over a year.

I took up photography in '83 when illness stopped me singing and playing.

I was fortunate to find an unused darkroom at my company's social club and developed (sic) my techniques and produced an enormous portfolio of monochrome work - I felt (still do) that you can say more in mono.

I joined two local clubs and soon formed a club in my company.

I was encouraged to go for a Royal Photographic Society distinction in '89, and went for the highest - an Associateship in '89, and got it with a panel of, I think 12 prints - first time out.

Then I started getting bookings for lectures and to judge the many competitions all over the south of England.

I really enjoyed doing these and realised that I'd turned my visual art into a performing art. I used to genuinely seek to help and encourage but it also became "stand up" with pictures.

Sadly, because of my cancer treatment last year I had to cancel all my bookings and retire from the circuit.

Ironically, after I'd retired from competition by '93 I was asked by one of my clubs to submit some images and won an International Gold medal in '95.

I've got loads of books of negs in the attic, which will never be used again, and many boxes of prints that are mounted and have been exhibited but they'll not be seen again.

I wish I could digitise my prints, not sure what I'd do with them though.

I love to go through here and see the great photos you guys take! I can hardly wait until retirement when I hope to get back into amateur photography. The Texas hill country has some places/wildlife I am looking forward to getting a shot at (pun intended).
