Default Went into GC to buy a Martin, and walked out with a ...

Washburn! I had played a really nice used Martin OOO-15M there on Sunday, really liked it, but couldn’t really decide because it was too noisy & crowded. I went back today, and after playing the Martin for a while, decided I didn’t like it as much as I thought, for a variety of reasons. So I decided to hold on to my $1000, but figured, since I was there, I might as well play a few guitars.

I also tried some of the lower-end Martins with the space-age materials, but they seemed overpriced for what they were - JMO.

I tried a bunch of other guitars, and wound up falling in love with a Washburn HG75SEG-O Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric. Significantly less then half of what I was prepared to spend, and brand-new to boot. It followed me home.

That makes three Washburn guitars for me. I really tried to “level-up”, but I guess some of us are just meant to be bottom-feeders.

Same thing happened to me in April was planning on a Martin and ended up with a RGS200SWEVSK
Solo Deluxe Grand Auditorium... It's a really nice Guitar and has opened up and sounds better now than it did then.
Congratulations on finding one that speaks to you and who cares what name is on the head stock!!

They are a good looking guitar with an impressive specification too.

I have always had a soft spot for Washburns. My first teaching job was at an elementary school about 5 minutes from their headquarters in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. That was when I was first getting into playing music. I had B16 banjo for awhile, and it was a really good instrument. And we played one of their parlors a few years ago that had a sweet tone.

I bought a Washburn 15 years ago, my brother loved it so much, he bought the same model and I bought another because I got such a good deal! They sound fab and are easy to play! And look great.

Here's the 1983 Washburn Timber Ridge Custom that I've been abusing on gigs for over 25 years. I love it.

But who came up with a name like RGS200SWEVSK Solo Deluxe Grand Auditorium????

"Hey! Nice guitar! What is it?"

"Thanks! It's a RGS200SWEVSK Solo Deluxe Grand Auditorium."

How can you even remember all that? You could learn a whole set of songs with the brain cells used up on that!

I don't think you're a "bottom-feeder" at all! I think that you may be one of the "Smart ones" for not feeling like you have to spend a lot of money to get a good guitar! I wish I could say the same for myself!!

If a zombie played acoustic, that's what he would play.

Reading the title of this thread, I thought it was going to be, "Went into GC to buy a Martin, and walked out with a kumquat." I was expecting it to be a rare fruit for some reason. I think you made out very well with the Washburn - the first guitar I bought with my own money.

I won a waterbed in a Halloween costume contest. I sold the waterbed and bought the Washburn.

I also now own three Washburns, though none from the early 1900s. But I seem to keep gravitating to them. My Washburn parlor guitar lives right next to my bed - I play it in the middle of the night, when I get insomnia attacks, or during the day when I need a thought break from work (my office is also my bedroom...). I love that guitar.

I’ve been playing the new one for hours. So different from any of my other guitars, which is the point... Heavy duty bonding going on...
