What kind of fx do you guys use?

I've been listening to a bit of Michael Hedges again and there is something about his sound...I'm not sure if it is all just his acoustic, it sounds very airy.

So I messed around with some fx, but couldn't really get a nice sound besides a little reverb. I'm wondering what you guys like to use for your tone.

A little chorus (very little) can be nice. Reverb, preferably room type reverb. A little delay if I'm going for something "out there" which is almost never.

Tremolo. Always. Almost inaudible.
Maybe a tad of reverb, but not always.

If I have to play at high volume, I'll put a compressor in the chain. It helps.

Sometimes dry, sometimes a little verb or echo and lately I've been having fun occasionanlly adding just a little grit with a distortion pedal

If we are talking about effects on voice and acoustic guitar, I do use a slight amount of compression during recording to make sure that I never overload the preamps on a digital recorder. And I sometimes use a small amount of reverb during mixdown. On electric guitars it's a different story.

I like a teeny weeny bit of delay, and a touch of reverb.

For years while playing live I've only used reverb on my guitar but recently I've been favoring a bit of delay instead. It seems to give me some desired space but I can still hear my guitar clearly and upfront. Reverb seems to put my guitar further in the background and muddy up the sound a bit. Still debating though.

I agree with this. A little goes a long way. Condenser microphones are great at capturing the sound of an acoustic guitar...but they often fail to capture the sound of the space that the guitar is being played in. Sometimes they need a little hint of chorus and/or reverb to sound lively on the recording.

I sometimes use an Electro Harmonics Memory Man Deluxe analog delay like the Edge used. But only occasionally. Sounds cool when I play slide on my Seagull with the Baggs M1 pickup.

With my Stratocasters I'll often use a Klon (or Klon clone) into my old non-master volume Fender amps for overdrive. It's my favorite pedal for beefing up the tone of a Strat. Jeff Beck also uses one.

I have some chorus pedals too (Boss, TC and Danelectro) but I rarely use them.

Also have a TC Hall of Fame reverb pedal but again, I rarely use it.

If I'm plugged in, any pedal is fair game to get the sound I'm after. Anything from a hint of reverb to a Big Muff, and everything in between.

A touch of reverb.

Same here. I'm not a fan of chorus, but I've heard others use it to good effect.
