Default Capo/Guitar Idea

For some of us who like the sound of a capo'd guitar...

Have you ever thought what a guitar would sound like if it was a full-bodied guitar...ie.., Jumbo-Dread..GA that had a 21-22in scale ???
I did a search at Sweet Water and couldn't find anything..
And I don't mean a 3/4 or even 7/8 guitar I mean a Standard size guitar with a short scale to mimic a capo'd guitar...

What advantages would that guitar have over a dread with a capo?

None! And you would not be able to tune down to standard tuning without having slack strings.

Unless you also join the neck to the body at a lower fret, shortening the scale length necessitates moving the bridge higher, reaching a point where bracing and resonance changes dramatically.

Put another way; if you take a 25.5" scale length dreadnaught guitar and shorten the scale to 22" while keeping a 14 fret join, the bridge will need to be located 3.5" further north. If you don't change anything else about the guitar's shape, that brings it perilously close to the sound hole, and distant from the wide part of the top where it can vibrate at the deepest pitches.

So you have to also compensate for shorter scale length by joining the neck at a lower fret, and there are diminishing returns with that approach in terms of playability.

I'm looking at my harem and they all have a KYSER on the second fret so I'll pitch in on the Go-Fund-Me site. Tone might be improved over what a capoed fret gives.

It's simply a matter of where my voice usually works with the songs I work on, plus it's a better angle for my left wrist.

I think our best shot at that would be to frankenstein a Taylor neck with a newly cut fretboard.

Would a 12 fret guitar do what you are looking for?
