Any good Android recording apps ?
Looking for something user friendly that doesn't require any outboard gear
to record and organize solo acoustic guitar music. Any recommendations? |

Good question. A while ago I tried out quite a few that had good reviews, but eventually just resorted back to the default google recorder. Many apps had awkward file management and interfaces. None added anything in terms of sound quality improvement. What I also wanted was an app that could utilize both mics on my phone for stereo recordings, but alas I could not find one to do that. With so many apps available, it would help if you can specify what exactly you need that goes beyond the stock app.

Hi Merlin-thanks for your detailed reply. I m looking for something simple ( but decent quality if possible) to record solo acoustic guitar arrangements using the phone's internal microphone. Don't need editing or overdub capabilities ( but would be nice). Would like to be able to easily retrieve by title and playback; don't even expect to share/upload anywhere.

Mixbuss / goes on sale at time sfor $39
I have has superb recordings easy and intuitive / each channel strip has reverb, compression and EQ / one of the best I have heard / I have been using it now for 3-4 years I can send anyone a MP3 clip of me on Tele, bass and CEO-7 with my wife singing I'm so lonesome I could cry. She nails it! https://harrisonconsoles.com/site/mixbus.html there is also a free demo |

I struggled with trying to record with my droid and PC. I bought a few interfaces and tried a few DAW's. I could never get them to work but I have cognitive impairment so I gave up. My wife bought an ipad for me and it came with the Garageband DAW for free. By some querk in my brain it seems to be easier to use/understand. I don't believe that Garageband is available for Droids but you might find something similar.

Have you tried Sony's Audio Recorder app? Mono and stereo with 4 quality choices.

I really like Audio Evolution Mobile.
More sophisticated than you need by the sound of it....more sophisticated than I need for sure, but easy to use simply and very good quality recordings. Nick |

After reading this thread I decided to give some of them another try, this one (amazing audio voice recorder) first:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...audio.recorder and this one (hi-q-mp3 recorder) has also a good reputation: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...qrecorder.free Both also have paid versions that enable mp3 encoding and/or unlimited recording. Honestly I just use the built in Soundcloud recorder.

What I would like to get is something uber simple like iPhone has under it's Utilities sub-menu -- Voice Memos. It could not be simpler, just push the red button and go. But, limited functionality. But for just a simple recorder to capture song ideas, it's all that's needed. Now that someone mentioned Google recorder, that has me curious, as I always record my song ideas right next to my laptop. If it's easy to store the recordings on the laptop and name them with song titles so they can be easily found, that could be a simple solution.
