Perhaps you can give us your views on how the three instruments compare. The one Kostal OM (Brazilian) I got the chance to play didn't seem to have quite the resonance and responsiveness of the dozens of Somogyis I've auditioned. But I only played the one Kostal so I'd like to hear what you have to say about it.

Thanks in advance.
Hi Bill,

The Kostals are new... and that contributes to the tightness of the sound.
The tap tones coming out from the Kostals are huge and I see a lot of potential when the guitars mature...
I remember when I had my Traugott... it took 2 years before it opened up.
I have owned 7 Somogyis and have played close to 20.
Different eras have different voicing... I prefer those from the late 90s to the early 2000... and the best ones I have owned are around that period (#289, #293. #295).
I cant remember the serial of the 97' Jumbo that got away... must be between 240-250.
I hope I find her someday

Do you still have any Mod Ds in your collection?
Thanks Mau...
Yes I still have my Mod D.
Its a great one... the best Somogyi Mod D I have played so far... It has more depth and has more weight/power on the mids and trebles than the other Mod Ds I have played.

That's interesting, thanks. So this might probably proof the often read comment that the builder is more important than the wood.

Great looking Jumbos!!! I feel like I'm a purveyor of fine large bodied acoustics myself. I've never had the pleasure of playing a Kostal or Somogyi though. The Traugott jumbo I heard was quite impressive. I also used to have a Ryan Cathedral that was pretty sweet. Also a McAlister jumbo in Adi over Ziricote!! A Froggy Bottom G also.

After playing quite a few Petros guitars, a Petros jumbo has haunted my GAS dreams some!

I'd love to play those guitars of yours!! Play them in good health!

It is the most important factor.

These are great guitars. I do not foresee myself to be somogyi or kostal owner due to their price tag... I just hope I have a chance to play them once... I am full of envy

To be honest I would be perfectly happy w/ a Martin 00028vs or a Furch/Stonebridge GC had I not played a Somogyi... Ignorance is bliss
