When I read your title, I thought "yep, my Ibanez Artwood AC240 OPN"
I had the same experience as you. I described this as 80% of a great guitar at 8% the cost.

If it has 6 or 12 strings and is playable I can have a blast with it. And no matter what I am playing I just sound like me.

No, I have one and they are shockingly good on every level - even more so when you consider the price.

Sounds promising since I have a AC340 (the upgrade) in a package from thomann presently in Hamburg awaiting transportation.
The backstory is this: I've been looking for something with a wider neck shorter scale for some time. I never been a Taylor man (or a mahogany man) but fell in love in the 322 12-fret. I thought long and hard but came to the conclusion I don't need a 2400 euro guitar. Everybodys needs are different and I need someting I can take to the streets, campfire or lend out to friends. That's just how it is. I saw the nice reviews and that it had the specs I'm looking for and a mahogany top so I took a chance. Thomann takes anything back without hazzle. The right specs don't say anything. I played the Martin M15 side by side to the 322 and didn't like that at all. I sing to and that's probably 60% of my sound so good enough is good enough för me. I don't need some high priced tone since I will ruin it with my singing. Light build sounds promising. That's what I'm lookin for. PS. There was some speculation that the hellcat is the same guitar but I looked att the specs and hellcat is 43mm nut and 25,3 scale. ac340 has a 24,9 and 44,5mm nut. |

I didn’t even realize that it is a short scale guitar.
Explains why it was so easy to play. I fought going back today, but the temptation is too much. I’ll go back tomorrow and see if she is still there....ugh.

When I say I "picked one up" I meant for about 15 minutes in GC. To be really honest I thought it would be OK as a first guitar for someone but it would not be anything I'd care to play regularly.
I have to premise that by saying I'm a Taylor 322 owner and had a Larrivee D-05 and a Lowden O23c before that, so my perception is a bit jaded. I realize you don't get much for $300 any more, but at that price I'd think some of those small details would be a bit better addressed. |

Look in my signature, my 322 is my favorite guitar. But I am in no way jaded. Thanks for posting though - I want all opinions.
