Nice birthday. Sometimes in life you have to pick out your own gifts.

Enjoy that beauty!

Hi Dave!

Well, happy 45th birthday and happy new D-28 1937 Ultra-thin finish with premium Madagascar back and sides! And what a great story!!! I can really relate to what was happening to you! I have been there myself, though not with this exact model.

I would love to play a guitar like this some day! I hope I get a chance!

Congratulations Dave!

- Glenn

Thank you for reading and responding. I’m hopefully as fond of this one as you are of your D-35.

That's a fine example of how to select a guitar for purchase. Thanks for sharing a wonderful story and congratulations.

You should write descriptions and do videos for a guitar store. I thought I had cured my GAS and it's back with a vengance after reading your descriptions

If you are not an author or don’t write prose for a living you should. I felt like I was there with you, or better yet inside your head. What a wonderful guitar and a marvellous birthday present. Enjoy in good health until the end of your days

Thanks for the kind comments on the short story. I'm an engineer by trade, but I bet my high school creative writing teacher would be proud to read your reactions.

Played my first two performances with the new guitar this weekend. One was a typical stage setup with the K&K pickup. It sounded great. The second was a very large acoustic song circle I hosted at the club. I finally understand what CF Martin was doing in 1937 with this D-28. The guitar just works differently in the big group setting than the other guitars I have played in the past. The power, bass, treble, projection and clarity were all there. I had no trouble competing (when needed to get the group back in time), complementing, and accompanying. It was a very satisfying and validating session. Fingers crossed, I found my D-28.
