My first chord is always a C#m aug 15th major 7th diminished 8th at the 24th fret with a spritz of foam, usually sugar-free. Actually, a D. The first chord I ever played was an Em7, the one-finger-chord and all the girls swooned.

Default First chord you play

Em11 is the first chord played by many guitarists. It is also the favorite chord played by most 2-year olds.

Actually this is the chord played the most by all strummers. Every time you strum during a chord change you are playing Em11.

Well done, you've got it!
...or should I say *almost* got it!

90% of the time it's an open position D, swiftly followed by that familiar C to G/B and back to D. Then depending on whether it's 6 or 12 string, I'll inevitably play a song using that progression. The other 20% it's either an Em or an Am.

I like to play a progression with the 4 finger G, Cadd9, and Am. Plenty of songs with just those 3 in them.

E chord. I remember going into my local store years ago and closing my eyes, then having my salesman friend hand me 3 different guitars I had selected. I strummed an E chord on each of them and bought the one I liked best. Not very sscientific, but it worked and I played that guitar as a working musician for a couple of years before I upgraded.

It's all about the E.

After tuning, fiddling with it to match strings, I play one E chord, and if it sounds right, then okay!
