Default New member from Canada

I just wanted to say hello and tell you how much I enjoy this site. I am 60 years of age and picked up the ukulele as my first and only instrument about 4 years ago. I am an active member of Ukulele Underground under the same user name. I live just outside Toronto and we have a very healthy ukulele community, I attend a couple of regular uke jams. Joined a uke band and perform at open mics.

Well I guess the uke is the gateway drug to guitars because 3 months ago I bought a Taylor GS Mini (spruce/walnut) and really enjoy it. Then a great deal came up on a used Taylor 512e 12 fret so that found it's way up to Canada. Then I got interested in nylon strings because............well ukes have them. I now own a Cordoba C10 crossover, I love the sound of this one. See what you people have done to me already It is the same with ukuleles, we call it UAS instead of GAS, same thing different instrument.

I just wanted to say thank you as I have learned a lot from reading and figured I should introduce myself. This really is a very friendly and helpful community and I am glad I found it.

Welcome! I'll be heading up your way soon from Woodstock, NY to London, Ont to pick up a new custom 000 from Steve Denvir. The guitar is in the final polishing stage, so it won't be long. Leave Woodstock, actually Shandaken next door, at 5 am Get to London around noon. Spend about an hour with Steve. Home by 8 pm with my new guitar. Should be a fun day!

Default Welcome

Welcome to the AGF, it's a fine forum where you can learn a lot about guitars and guitar related stuff. It's also a friendly spot to hang out.

Welcome to the forum Dave, I spent some time around Barrie, Ontario the summer of 1980, you got a pretty area up there. Did a canoe trip in Killarney Park that same summer, fabulous area.
