Endpin for after a pickup has been removed?

Have a guitar that had a pickup that was removed and I'm now left with a hole too big for an end pin. I would prefer to keep it strictly acoustic.

What are the best options for plugging the hole in a way that will look nice as well?

You can get the Larrivee replacement end pin from dealers or directly from their website. It's designed to work in a 1/2" hole.

I got one of those and turned it down a little at a time until it fit. The jack requires something like a 15/32” hole; 1/2” is actually a little too big. I put it in with a tiny dab of Elmer’s because it isn’t tapered. It looks really good.

Do you still have the hardware that was removed? That jack makes a pretty sturdy endpin.

In case you don't know Bob, he's a very nice, helpful, knowledgeable guy. Obviously, as his products have to travel from the US, the cost of postage has to be factored in, but his products are absolutely first class. I've used saddles, end-pins, and bridge-pins from Bob, delighted every time.

Have one in my HD35. Unless you examine it up close, you can't tell the difference.

Providing you have a lathe or drill press, you could turn a piece of dowel or other wood to fit the hole, 1/2" dowel might already fit. While in your lathe, drill a hole through the centre. Glue into your guitar then ream a taper to fit your choice of the original or any standard end pin. Almost free if you use leftovers.

I use a mahogany plug, turned on a lathe to fit the hole. The jack diameter is actually 15/32", so the hole is not necessarily as large as 1/2", though that is common.
While in the lathe, I drill a 1/4" hole. After the plug is glued in, the hole is taper reamed to fit the pin.

If you dont need a pin to hang a strap on, you can get 1/2" natural wood plugs with a circular shape top that would look very nice once finished.

I have a similar situation where I would like to install a Schaller straplock button once the jack is removed. I assume filling the hole with a dowel is the necessary preparation to do this but perhaps there is a nifty device designed to fill the hole as the Stewmac gadget but with a Schaller button?

I made an oversized endpin plug out of walnut dowel just this morning for one of my guitars that I removed the k&k pickup from. I made the tapered shank to suit the large hole, then turned the head to fit/retain a strap.

This lets me go back to a pickup if I change my mind - which I am prone to do.
