Default Question about my new guitar.

My brand new Martin 000-15m was delivered today, expecting high action like most new Martins, this one was spot on. The action is perfect and the saddle is pretty low. Everything looks great but the low action and saddle has me wondering. Has anyone ever had a new Martin like this?

Yes, I have played new Martins that were setup well.

I've had quite a few Martins arrive spot on. I've had some that needed adjustment. I'm not concerned either way.

My 000-15m came pretty close to where I wanted it. As a result, I played it for about six months before getting a setup, during which time I experimented with strings.

Welcome to the 000-15m cult here on the forum. The 15 series overall gets a lot of love here.

By the way, at some point you must try a set of Martin Retros on that guitar. If you're like me, the Retros will augment the guitar's personality in a great way.

I got a custom shop ordered OM-18 that was left handed with bracing, neck dots, but right handed with bridge/saddle, pick guard, and nut... I sometimes wonder about my being ambidextrous but I need a left handed guitar. They fixed it and knocked off some of the cost. The bridge lifted up twice and had to be re-adhered to the soundboard. The second bridge glue-down worked, at least for what has been most of the life of the instrument, so far... It is one of the best lefty guitars I have encountered and grown with in a satisfying relationship. It is the acoustic that came and stuck. I am fortunate.

Setup is just chance really upon arrival. Changes in temperature and humidity over its journey across country will mess with the action anyhow. Even if it was setup correctly when it left, by the time it gets to you, it might be different.

When I bought my new 00-15m 10 months ago, the salesguy was nice and let me try all 3 guitars the GC had. 1 had higher action and 2 were spot on for my liking (low action). I tried the 2 and chose the one I thought had a nicer workmanship and serial number because both sounded equally good.

Congrats! Enjoy bonding n playing your 000-15m! Post some pictures if you can.

I picked up my D18 in Nazareth and it was perfect.

The lower saddle is pretty normal for Martin, especially if the action has been set lower as well.

Yes...I ordered a Martin Custom D from Musician's Friend back in 2007. I never bothered to take it to a tech during the 5 years I owned it. It was very nicely set up.

Thanks for the replies. I wasn’t really worried, just curious. My beloved Taylor 320 just got knocked down to second place. I’m loving the Martin.
