Never get less than 10 hours of sleep, never play cards with a man who has the same name as a city, and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger anywhere on her body.

Sixty six here. A few things I've learned that has made my life much easier.

1. Folks are not going to do what you think they should do.

2. Everybody is the world's greatest authority on their own opinion.

3. The only person you can ever hope to change is yourself.

I ordered a used Martin online that was supposed to be delivered on Wednesday, signature required. I waited around all day, worried that I would miss the delivery. Wasn't delivered, delivery date was changed to Thursday. I waited, worried about damage due to cold weather. Finally delivered, still letting it acclimate, and worried about what condition it was in. I stressed out for days over this guitar. I already have 15 guitars, and 7 Martins. Small stuff.

Later I was reading news online, and learned that my neighbor's son had died. He was just 21. The funeral is today. His older brother died last year. And I was stressing out over a stupid guitar.
If this post doesn't put things into perspective nothing will.

I'm 69. I also just realized I enlisted in the Navy 51 years ago. Anyway...

If I knew I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself.

Be not the first by which the new is tried, ---------but yet, be not the last to put the old aside.

Three gems from my Dad now 22 years gone:
1-Growing old is not for the faint of heart.
2-The only enjoyment you'll ever get out of life is what you do for others.
3- I'll believe in a "May-December Romance" when December is poor!
At 63 I think he was right on all counts...

If a man starts a sentence, "I told my wife", and the next words out of his mouth aren't, "Yes dear", "You're right", "I'm listening" or "I'm sorry", quit listening. He's already opened w/one lie; who knows how many more he'll tell...

-your memories of past events more than not, are inaccurate

-people's behaviors are the worst when large sums of money are involved

-be less rigid in your views, usually there is a valid counterpoint

-when you think you have mastered something, there is always more to learn

We went to a small jam session at a friends flat (Apartment) on Sunday afternoon.

I take a smaller guitar, but mostly play dobro and mando.

A non muso wife came along so mine host suggested she sat on his Cajon (don't) and showed her where to strike it.

This is what I learnt/remembered ....

"NEVER GIVE ANY SORT OF PERCUSSION INSTRUMENT TO SOMEONE WHO ISN'T A MUSICIAN !!!!

Why do people think that they can play percussion with no sense of time or rhythm?

Ugh!
