It's Over by Jimmie Rodgers (Cover)
This is my cover of Jimmie Rodgers' song "It's Over" first published in 1966. My version is more like Glen Campbell's version from his "Gentle on my Mind" album in 1968, where the song is in the key of D and pitched a little higher than where Jimmie Rodgers sang this song. The guitar is my Guild F-512 12-string. I purposely kept this video simple -- just me and my 12-string. Thanks for watching! - Glenn

Beautifully done as we expect from Glen.
Sounds better than the original ... I had to check it out on Y/T as I hadn't heard of "that" Jimmie Rodgers. Who is you camera person Glen?

Thank you for your thoughts and comments! I'm so glad you thought this came out okay! Yes, there were two Jimmie Rodgers, both with names spelled the same. The first Jimmie was born in 1897 and died in 1933. The second, from Camas, WA, was born in 1933 and I think is still around. This song is from the 2nd Jimmie Rodgers in 1966. This is the original Jimmie Rodgers recording: This is Glen Campbell's 1968 version played on the Smother's Brothers' Show: I think these are both great versions. Mine is just whatever I could do with this. I have always loved this song, sad as it is, since I first heard it in 1966. The camera person is me, with 3 cameras on tripods and my using Adobe Premier Elements for a video editing program. I hate to trouble anyone else at having to operate the cameras because I so often end up doing multiple takes. I would drive anyone else crazy. It's very nice of you to take the time to comment, Andy! I hope you are well! - Glenn

Very beautifully done, Glenn! Looks like you've kept the laryngitis away for good!
That last note is a big one.....you nailed it!!! The 12 string sounds great too!!

Regarding the laryngitis, I know that it was clouding up my voice on the last verse. Maybe you can hear it a little. At the end, I just decided, at the end I have to make that big jump up to that high G and then the F#, so I just grabbed a lot of air and sort of powered through the crud. I was lucky to make it work, really! And I agree, the Guild 12-string really has a great sound! I feel so fortunate to have it! Thanks so much for taking the time to comment! I appreciate the support! - Glenn

Great job, Glenn. I had forgotten about this song, but remember liking it when it was getting air time back in its day. Jimmie also had an earlier hit with “Kisses Sweeter Than wine” which I couldn’t seem to get enough of. Loved that song.
Thanks for posting and I’m glad your voice is back in good form. Be well. Roger |

My gosh man! I'm old enough to remember that song back in the day, forget it, and now you bring it back. Nice work! Thank you so much. Great song and execution.

Yes, I remember "Kisses Sweeter Than Wine." I first heard it on the first album from Peter, Paul and Mary in about 1962, but later I heard it from Jimmie Rodgers who wrote the song. My laryngitis is mostly under control, but I'm still fighting issues. It's maybe the dryness of the air in all this cold weather, which is unusual for western Washington. At least I know I don't have nodes or something. I'm doing fine -- I hope you are well Roger! - Glenn

Thanks so much for your comments! If I could lend you my voice for a day, I would. I just don't know how. I could stay quiet for a day; it would probably be good for me! I am very gratified to read that you think I did a good job on this! Thank you for taking time to comment! - Glenn
