Default New Original Song "All Went Wrong"

A little acoustic/electric number I wrote off the cuff to demo my old 1949 Webster Chicago 166-1 microphone/phono amplifier that I modified for electric guitar use (changed mic jack to a 1/4" jack).

Acoustic guitar is my Gibson 1950's J45 Reissue
Electric guitar is my Gibson Historic SG Special

All Went Wrong / Weldon 2019

It's been so long since I've seen the lights fade down on the city
but I've been drinking all day long, with no reason to go home
so I stand up here high on this roof top
wonderin' where it went all wrong
wonderin' where it all went wrong

I wonder why I ever thought you'd care for me
'cause I have seen the damage you've left, lain behind just to crash
now I'm another one of your casualties, left wrecked on your path
how'd it ever go so wrong
how'd I let it go so wrong

wonderin' where it all went wrong
I've been drinking all night long
wonderin' where it all went wrong
I've been drinking all night long

Glad you like it, and took the time to listen to it. I know my songs are not typical "acoustic songs" as they usually have electric guitar in there, so I think that's puts some off. But I try to make interesting acoustic rhythms so I hope people are listening

Cool accompaniment Daniel! Sounds really good to me. I hope this is not autobiographical, because the central character is pretty low!

Thanks Glenn, no, it's far from autobiographical, I'm pretty happy with my girl
It was just a little blues song I wrote to demo the little guitar amp I was using, the 1949/50 Webster Chicago 166-1.

From the title of the thread I thought you meant, "I did a bad job of playing it but I posted it anyway."

Not the case, apparently. I love your soulful voice and your playing. Really good recording and that amp sounds awesome. it's from a record player?

Brent, the amp is a Webster-Chicago 166-1 which was a two input amp. It was small 8 watt system with a 10" speaker designed for home entertainment. You could sing along with your records if you had the amp and matching turntable. You know, a 1950's Karaoke machine They have to be modified to be used for guitar as the microphone channel, where the gain is, has to have the input connector changed to a standard 1/4" TS jack. And most of these are so old that they need many capacitors changed out, ESPECIALLY the filter cap can.

One channel had a preamp for a microphone, and the other was for a matching turntable. Here's a shot from the original catalog...

I first learned about them when I was trying to figure out what amp the band Son Volt was using for lapsteel on their first album, you can see one here on the cover of the record...
