Default Is anyone using the K&K Pure Preamp for OTHER pickups?

Hey,

So, as per my thread earlier, I think I have a winner in the ToneDexter for my K&K Mini equipped Martin OM18v.

But......

I KNOW there will be some situations where I either don't want to, or won't be able to, use the TD, and just a small simple preamp would be best. I tried my Baggs ParaAcoustic with the K&K, and didn't like it, at all.......even though it's great on all my other instruments/pickups.

So, if I get a K&K Pure Preamp, is it versatile enough to use with say, my passive pickup'd Rigel mando, or active Fishman-equipped uke, or other guitars? Is anyone using it for non-K&K pickups......successfully or not?

Thanks!

Hi,

I use it in combination with a seymour duncan woody xl via roland ac33.
Works great - stronger low impedance signal and additional eq-options for toneshaping.
I think it's usable for many situations - not only for the k&ks.

I use the pure xlr with guitar and mandolin
As well. The pre sounds great with my sunrise
And baggs m80 soundhole pups.
When I switch to mandolin I Just reach down
And cut the treble and boost the low.

I used the K&K Pure preamp as my main gigging pre for years with my JJB equipped fiddles, mandolins, banjos, guitars, etc. I also have loaned it to others in the open mic I (used to) host. It works fine with any piezo pickup.

I've since moved to a RedEye but keep the K&K as a spare.

Try it. If it sounds good, it is good. If it doesn't, buy a SunnAudio Stage 1 DI or a RedEye.

My gear is constantly changing.
I haven't used alot of it in awhile mlm
I sold a bunch of it off. But I kept
The stuff I currently use . But in a bag
With a guitar chord and an xlr is
My pure xlr. It's a great fly rig
Or just grab when your going
To an open mic( ahh the past)
Or a jam. Dont think I'll ever sell it

I have used it with my Eastman El Rey mandolin. The Lollar pickup needs a little gain up front and the K & K preamp is just the thing! I bought it to use with my acoustic mandolin which has a K & K twin pickup in it but it works great with the Eastman as well.
