Default Great Dream From Heaven

Joseph Spence transitioned this spiritual to fingerstyle guitar. I believe it came from the Bahamas to the states via Ry Cooder, and this arrangement is from Phil Heywood.

Nice to hear this and the reference to Phil. It was watching him play especially this particular tune, along with others, that set me on the fingerstyle path. I still play this regularly. Listening to you, I hear I have lost a few bits over the years. Time to get them back.

Thanks for posting this!

Thanks for taking a listen. Did you see Phil Heywood play live, or recorded? I live in the Twin Cities, so am fortunate that I can often see him play in small settings (prior to the pandemic anyway).

Thank you Derek. Always nice to hear from you. I miced this one quite a bit closer (13" from the guitar) compared to the last piece I posted using my Carruth.

Thank you Bob. I tend to use this guitar (Carruth 12 fret 000) for what I consider the 'beautiful' type type of pieces I play, and the Poling for the rags and bluesier types.
