Doc is certainly a legend and the Dean of hockey broadcasters. When he handled the national broadcast, you knew it was an important game.

But, sorry, I never liked his call. He called the game as though it was on radio, describing every detail of the action as though viewers couldn't see the game themselves. TV broadcasters have to restrain themselves and describe what the viewers can't see. No need to say that Ovechkin is skating down the left wing, when you can see that for yourself. Modern broadcasters tend to sit back more and let the action play out in front of you. They provide context and perspective.

Every Bruins fan was happy for Ray. Usually, when a player leaves a team for a better opportunity to win a Cup that's not the case.
