TreeHouse Guitar Ziricote OM build thread
Hi folks! Thought I might do a build thread of my upcoming guitar which will be my demo instrument at the Vancouver International Guitar Festival - I have a few interesting ideas I will be incorporating, hope you enjoy them!

Thanks Matthew! I'll post a picture and explanation of the rosette - it was fun sourcing the material for it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Who knew fungus could be so pretty?! Chlorociboria aeruginascens fungus is what caused this pin cherry wood to turn green. I was able to use the variety of colours in the rosette - should look amazing under a French polish finish!

Isn't it?!? I am surprised I haven't seen it used as inlay or rosette material before - such a beautiful, vivid colour! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The finished rosette - I find that my favourite rosettes are the simple ones that show off a bit of what nature can do. Nature never ceases to amaze me!

Where'd you come across it?

It's a fungus that attacks several different local species of rotting wood including this cherry, oak, some maple, poplar and tag alder (those are the ones I know of, I'm sure there are many more). I spent a lot of time in the bush as a kid and was always stumbling over this stuff. Now I'm using it in my guitars! These pieces were pretty punky but nothing a lot of super thin cyanoacrylate won't fix. Pretty stuff to say the least, I think anyways. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
