Forgive me if it’s been revealed, but what is the actual weight of this guitar?

3 pounds, two ounces. Nice!

The final weight was 3 lbs 2 oz. Notwithstanding Christie’s title of the thread as “ultralight”, we weren’t actually trying to shave every bit of weight with this one - just many of the heaviest elements. There have been plenty guitars that are lighter, but this is the lightest we have built without changing any of our standard building practices.

In a world where typical new Martins are well over 4 pounds, that is indeed very light. Even lighter than most of my guitars, which are said to be quite light. My only substantially lighter guitars are my three Flamencos, which are all between 2.5 and 2.7 pounds, but they do have wooden friction pegs.

I just relistened with headphones. It really is stunning that a short scale OO can sound like this! Sounds huge.
May I ask what is the mic used, and is it straight into the mic or was there EQ and editing of the audio? Apparently this is not a stock body size as it is not listed on the website? Curious. Again, kudos to luthier & musician - what a great partnership. And yes, rrayer for beautiful recovery and growth in faith. Thanks. |

PTL,
Thanks for taking the time, and I’m glad you enjoyed it. Sorry, we are not trying to obfuscate the fact that the audio was recorded in a studio. I couldn’t tell you what Christie’s setup is there. For the video, we had one camera and Christie played the song about four times while different shots were taken. She is so good that her playing was spot on every time. While we believe the sound of the recording is representative of our guitars in the right setting, our shop is probably not the best sound stage (concrete floors, boxy, hard angles, and dehumidifiers). The 00 is now a stock model. We’re in the slow process of overhauling our website. Until then, if you would like a video of a currently available 00 that was filmed in our shop with a Rode NT3 mic and no EQ to compare with Christie’s, here’s one we recorded in the same spot. Thanks again for the interest. |

Ah.....thanks! This makes sense. I noticed a shift in tonal quality going from her speaking to the guitar and was blown away by its tone 'in your shop' in a presumably basic rig. Now my world is in one piece though I'd love to have the guitar sound like that in a workshop. It's impressive even in a studio of course.
Thanks. |

Steve, you sound Lovley
Steve sounds great and so does this Koa sweetheart! Even in the corner of the shop. Way to go, gentlemen.
Christie if you check in let us know your studio setup if you can. Cheers Paul

That little gem is simply outstanding! A lot of very nice detail in that small package.
