Hi,
My first post. Been playing on a Fender 140CD-SCE since March really nice (and cheap) dread. Just expanded my Guitar family with another dread a Recording King RD-318, an absolute steal of a guitar at £400 (B-stock). If it had a satin neck it would be perfect, much more complex sounding tone to my ear. Anyway, back in the box she goes. Not allowed to touch her again til Christmas... |

15 acoustic guitars: 9 steel-stringed, one nylon stringed, one arch top, one baritone, one half-sized, one 12-string, one harp guitar
3 resonators: one National Duolian, 2 squareneck dobros 1 Weissenborn 3 electric lap steels 5 mandolins 1 mandola 1 octave mandolin 1 mandocello 2 irish bouzoukis 3 five-string banjos 1 tenor banjo 2 ukes 1 upright bass 1 electric bass 1 acoustic bass 1 dulcimer 1 autoharp That makes 42 stringed instruments, 19 being acoustic guitars. I would say 20 of 42 them are played regular. It's fun having them.

Congratulations on the new guitar! Curious, which Fender CD-140SCE did you get. Does it have Ovangkol for back and sides with a Walnut fretboard/bridge, or is it the earlier model with Rosewood back/sides along with a Rosewood fretboard and bridge?

I have exactly two guitars. The first one I ever made and one my father made for me. I’ll never part with either. I put 1 for the poll because I only play the one I made. (My dad loves a huge neck!)

Well, I'll say this. I owned three when I joined the forum back in 2014. I now own more than ten. And four mandolins. This place is dangerous to my financial health.

Yes. Sadly, my next guitar is going to cost around $50,000. Maybe more. Or possibly the one after next, I'm not quite sure yet.
I don't know what sort of guitar it will be yet, it could be almost anything, but maybe a nice big traditional dreadnought (perhaps a D-18, a Maton Custom Shop Flatpicker, a made-in-Japan Takamine, or any of dozens of others). Or maybe something in a maple jumbo; I'd really like a maple jumbo. Or possibly a brass tricone resonator. Or just the random thing I happen to see in a shop somewhere and fall in lust with. But whatever it is, it will cost a heap - as things stand I have pretty much reached the limit of how many guitars I can leave lying around the house and maintain domestic peace, so the next one is going to mean calling in the builders to add a couple of extra rooms.

I know it's an old thread/poll, but like so many others, I've opened the wallet way too many times in pursuit of the shiny objects we know as guitars. As I type this, I have 30 guitars, and one being built.
Anyone want to buy a guitar?

8, all acoustics - 1 of which has been referred to on this forum as “firewood”.

I have 15, but I still don’t have (in no particular order) an OM, a Rickenbacker 12 string, a Jaguar, an SJ200, a Goodall, a flamenco negra, a D35, a cowboy parlor guitar, an SG, any kind of banjo, a p bass, a Rick bass, a Gibson F style mandolin...my lady is gonna murder me before I die.
But to be fair, I play more when I only have one or two close at hand. Have enough decision fatigue in my life.

I onced owned twenty six strings instruments, including
a tricone and a banjitar : So began to miss room ! I have sold many, bought some others and will sell some more as I do not play these much and have to move this Spring. But I also have some others I plan to try after moving, maybe buying one or two. I play fingerstyle on nylon and orchestra models and keep some in alternate tunings : I would be happy with "only" ten guitars.

6 or 7 is what I voted. I'd like to get down to 3 acoustics and the strat. So my answer is "a couple guitars too many".

"A couple too many"?
I don't even know what that means
