Default Which preamp for mic with FRFR

Looking for recommendations.

I play both electric, acoustic and classical guitar.

I am building a pedal board with HX Stomp and a Morningstar MC6 midi controller. I’m experimenting with a Headrush FRFR-108. I would like to use this little setup for everything eventually.

For classical guitar gigs, I have a small pickup on the saddle of my classical guitar which I usually connect directly to a Fishman Loudbox Artist.

I also like to use a Røde NT1-A mic pointed towards the 12th fret to get a more ambient sound. The Loudbox has two channels so that works great for live use.

If I keep the FRFR I would probably sell the Fishman. I am wondering how to integrate the dynamic mic into my pedalboard.

The FRFR-108 has no preamp so I guess I need a preamp pedal for the mic? What are good recommendations for this?

The classical guitar pickup I consider sending through the HX Stomp.

I should maybe add that there is no vocal work here, it's all about getting acoustic and classical guitar sounds through a different speaker than my Loudbox..

I think, the Headrush can take a mic signal since it’s similar to the Alto 308. BUT it doesn’t provide phantom power thus you are limited to dynamic mics.

There are lots of also cheap and good preamps but I think you would need an EQ for the mic too.

Considering all that, a small digital mixer would be cheaper and offer all you need and more. I‘d take a look at the little Behringer/Midas digital mixers. You will have lots of EQs, compression and effects, the possibility of creating presets or scenes and save lots of cables and setup time. And this for all of your instruments.

I use an Eventide floor pedal- type mic pre for that purpose. EQ, especially High Pass Filter is essential. I use Sennheiser MD 441 or Neumann KM85, so no HPF needed. All in all it is a lot of money, so maybe consider a small mixer instead.

Thank you, guys. I’ll try to sort out my options. I’m very happy with the FRFR-108 so far, so if I sell the Fishman I can use the money towards a mixer.

I ended up buying a new mic, the e906 which does not need phantom power. I have a small mic to line converter before the HX Stomp.

So far so good!

It's the Red Squeeze in front of a Studio Tube Pre. Tube Echo delay and Hall reverb.

I uploaded the patch here so that you can check it out: https://line6.com/customtone/tone/5102148/

I'm using a Mic Mechanic, into a small mixer into Headrush 108 sounds great

Beware the Mic Mechanic doesn't have 48v. It says it does but it's half that and most condensers wont work properly, but a mixer should fix that
