Made me laugh! Yeah, I dragged that out a bit, didn't I? Appreciate the good wishes!

Winner of the Understatement of the Day contest!

Congrats on the incoming Sable, Mike! Once you get one, you will want the other. In the words of the philosopher Kramster: "Just saying."

Cap’n, thanks for the good wishes, and I can only imagine! Sitting at my desk wondering how I can swing a new X20 with this. First step, sell the Black Ice. Then sell my Taylor 814. And at least three electric guitars. I had “an accumulation” problem...now it’s time to declutter. Oh yeah...my Ensor...and others. It’s good to have a plan!

You might want to get the Sable in your hands before you start scheming. It's a nice guitar and I have no doubt it will please you.

At least get through that honeymoon stage before you think about selling anything. I look forward to reading about your impressions with the Sable.

That's good advice, thanks. I will be selling the Black Ice, though. It was part of the deal with my wife. I have my RainSong H-OM, which I love, and the Black Ice sounds pretty similar. I'll definitely post about the Sable. Pretty excited about it.

Ah, dealing with your wife. I've heard about that. "I'll never ask for anything ever again..." My wife is an equipment acquisition enabler. Good luck with the plan... could be good to have one each of the three top CF builders.

I can sense your excitement - looking forward to reading about the NGD.

Honestly, my wife is awesome! She is incredibly supportive and never gives me a hard time about guitars. But I have about 30 of them, and many I don't play. Those really have to go.

I don't even tell the wife I bought a new guitar until the day its getting delivered....I just ask her to watch for the delivery truck....when its delivered she doesn't speak to me for a few weeks and this gives me quiet time to bond with the new guitar....tried and true system that's worked for 32 years

Just a reminder that she may be the one making medical decisions for you.

Ed62, I read your post aloud to my wife and got the expected reaction. Of course, I learned not to cross her a long time ago. Subtle hint guys: never get on the bad side of a woman who borrows your .45 for a pistol match and out-shoots your score!

What exactly did you adjust on the Sable? The saddle, the nut, or both? I ask because I just picked up a gently used Sable, and even though it's got the "Low" factory saddle, I find the action not comfortable, especially at the upper end of the neck. It's also not as consistent as like from one end of the fretboard to the other. I replaced the saddle with another one I had, and sanded it down until it's just barely higher than the bridge itself. It's much better, but still not as good as my Taylors. And it appears I can't go any lower with the saddle or the strings will be touching the bridge.
I guess adjustments on the nut is my only other option?

Both.
