Default Do you own a guitar formerly owned by a well known pro?

I’ve been wanting to try out a D-55, but since I already have some nice dreads, I didn’t want to spend a lot of money. I ended up finding a road worn sunburst D-55 for a great price. As it turns out, the guitar was owned by Mike Wanchic, John Mellencamp’s guitarist, for 15+ years (I was able to verify this).

Do you own a guitar formerly owned by a well known pro? If so, what’s the story behind the guitar?

One of my guitars was used in a recording session by Steuart Smith (Eagles).

The closest I've ever gotten to fame that way, is a 12 string Alvarez I bought from a lady in early 70's. She said Tommy Smothers borrowed/played it at a local political rally. For those times and location, that was pretty cool.

I was lucky enough to have purchased Otis Taylor's Santa Cruz H model.
it is Madi/ Italian Spruce. It was his main touring guitar and he was kind enough to have signed it and gave me a letter stating the facts of his ownership and use. It was one of 2 that SCGC built for him.
You can see him playing it on the SCGC website on the Otis Taylor model page.
It is a wonderful sounding guitar.

Yes, I do. All of my instruments came from a former professional musician.

I own this Tim Reede Adi/Wenge OM guitar that was built for Candyrat recording artist Sam Breckenridge:

Not much of a story, I bought it off the classifieds here. It's beautiful sounds amazing, and the price was right!

Not that was owned by a pro, but Pat Metheny played my ES335 once.

Oh wow.!! Now you're talking.

G.E. Smith pointed out an A note on my fret board during a workshop. He walked around and pressed a note on everyone's fretboard and asked what note it was.

Sorry to hijack the thread.

If playing in clubs/bars/restaurants/coffee shops/birthday parties/misc. events for two decades supporting oneself is considered Pro, then . . . . why, yes I play my guitars. All seriousness aside, in the spirit of what you asked - yes, I once owned and played a J-200 that had been previously owned by Whitt McKinney.

I once swapped a dread I owned for a Taylor 712e 12-fret John Newsome (lead guitarist for the Casey Donahew Band) had. In this tour bus vid he’s in the back row playing it not long before we did the swap...
