One of the things I care about most in a smartphone is the quality of the pictures and video it shoots.

I just installed GCam on my phone. For those that don't know, GCam is a backwards engineered version of the Google Pixel camera app. It turns out that the reason the pictures and video look so good on the Pixel is the software rather than the hardware.

On an Android phone, it is common to buy the camera assembly from another manufacturer. For example, both the Pixel and my OnePlus 7 Pro uses Sony cameras.

Anyway, the GCam pictures and videos look fantastic! Way better quality than the OnePlus camera app! The quality is so much better!

The icing on the cake is that unlike the stock OnePlus camera app, GCam will let you select a USB external mic!

I am just ecstatic! This is such a bump up in quality for me!
