I once played in a jam with Tim O'brien. I had no idea who he was at the time.
I said, "Hey Jim!" to Jim Lauderdale backstage at a festival one time. He smiled and gave me a pat on the back. In my 20s, I tried my hardest to break into the Christian music industry, and during that time, I had the opportunity to work with and open for several big names in the field. I won't bother going into the names because a lot of you won't know who they are.

A company I had worked for was one of the sponsors of a local casino's stage shows. At least one of us would have to show up for the meet and greet/promotional parties.
I got to meet many musicians and comedians. While I may admire their musical talent, I've never really idolized them as stars. They are human like everyone else and have the same human faults and frailties like anyone else. Most are very nice and show a lot of patience. I've seen a lot more rude fans than rude artists.
