Best for the money would have to be my Taylor 322e 12 fret. Constantly amazed at that one every time I bring it out.

I also have 2! And I live at the end of the guitar selling trail and let me tell you, everything I ever wanted is usually double!
Now, this time last year I was reading these very pages and there was a thread about a guitar with Tommy and Phil Emmanuel's signatures ruining the guitar. What seems like moments later, I saw it at an online second hand instrument shop and then I was there and then I traded some budget guitars I was going to get around to selling but hadn't....and I brought home my fabulous 1993 Lowden S35 with trades only! So, a few firsts - Tasmanian Blackwood back and sides and Cedar top and after playing all year, I like this wood combination a lot for my bare fingerpicking style. And then I saw a new Maton SRS808 had the same woods! I had never owned a Maton but had played some truly awful set up ones over the years and had put them out of mind. I had always heard how good the pickup system was. And I played mine at a shop, great! Asked the price. "New? You're kidding! Wrap it!" I could have 4 of those locally made guitars for the price of an imported one....one more coming maybe, probably don't need...4.... I love Cedar and Blackwood! BluesKing777. |

My vote is for Godin.
French-Canadian company... American build quality... Advanced Japanese grade electronics... and the most important quality....KOREAN PRICES! I was going to say I don't know how they do it, but actually I do...

Every one I bought to play, and every one that replaced them in succession. Changing ear, changing tastes, changing music, all were bought and parted with in step with the changes.

Thanks! There is some kind of lesson here though - the same woods, both deep body 00 size guitars, but really...the only thing the same is the strings! The Maton has the great AP5-Pro pickup system and the Lowden is the most wonderful guitar but has some old EMG pickup thing that was possibly factory installed in 1993 and it is....awful! K&K coming up for the Lowden? And I could maybe get 2 Maton necks out of the 1 Lowden neck! Both keepers! BluesKing777. |

Third item in my sig, 2015 Northwood R80 MJ. Bought used, here. I think luthier John McQuarrie is a genius and so does a skilled picker friend who owns Gibson, Martin and Collings.
At a weekend jam, I let him take it for a spin. He said he loved it, then took a picture to show his guitar teacher. Next time I saw him, he said “I dreamed about your Northwood last night.”

I think I get my money's worth out of the guitars I have. There's room for more too, lol.

Without a doubt, my 1979 Mark Angus F-40 _ built for me by Mark, from a template of a Guild F-40. Turns out that size/shape is what many manufacturers/builders call their "Mini-Jumbo", Grand Symphony (Taylor), Concert Jumbo (Goodall).
My Angus is German Black Forest spruce over maple, with a Florentine cutaway... my one and ONLY 6 string acoustic for 32 years of gigging, recording, performing and writing! When Mark built it for me, I pleaded "very little $$$" and asked for a plain, "workingman's" guitar; nothing fancy, just a great sounding and playing guitar... he delivered IN SPADES! I paid $800, including a hard shell case... 4 years later, I had the opportunity to buy Mark's first 12 string (#58, 1983); he offered it to me for the SAME PRICE I paid for my 6 string and I found a way to buy it... had to pay the music store in which his shop was located another 20%, per his agreement with them, but that still made it only $960... I'd say I got my money's worth! Here they are! My two Angus acoustics are my main "go-to" stage and travel guitars...

BluesKing777 - I posted the thread on your (superb) Lowden with the signatures.
jseth - love both of those guitars, beautiful. My best value guitar is probably my 2001 Guild F-412. Corona era with a faulty top-coat, I paid about $750 with shipping to Australia. Original factory hardcase. It's big and heavy and loud and stays in tune for weeks.... oh yeah, and it's red!

I’ve honestly never seen another one for sale. I do look quite often on Reverb and other places....it’s a rare and beautiful bird. It’s causing my biggest current dilemma....I’m craving another Rickenbacker lately, I’ve been writing a lot more electric tunes, and I can’t decide whether to keep it or not. I love it, it sounds great, but I feel it’s too nice of a 12 string for me most the time. Can’t decide if I should keep it, or part with it to help with the Ric finds...for eye candy here is my post from when I got it with some pics! http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f....php?p=4780041
