Alvarez Artist Series or whatever Breedlove's current import series is.

If it's not too late to throw something into the running, I'd check out a Martin DRS-1 or 2 usually can be found for under 500 used.

Alvarez Masterworks MD-60BG(e) is a great guitar for the money. I can’t believe they sound as wonderful as they do in many applications.

So I met with a seller yesterday and now am in the possession of a Guild GAD40C from 2005. He was the second owner but the guitar is in excellent condition and sounds fantastic. And I have to say the craftsmanship is just awesome it just looks so good. Really happy this find and I managed to grab it for a price that was really good (IMO). It’s not acoustic/electric but I’ll just use my black angel in the sound hole and hopefully my Alvarez will be alright when she gets looked at and worked on.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Check out Orangewood guitars. Acoustic electrics with or without cutaway for less than $500. It seems like you have to buy direct though. Maybe worth checking out.

i think this is the brand that randomly shows up on my instagram feed. i had done some research and while they seem like a possible option for beginners, i wasn't digging what i heard on some of the youtube reviews i saw.

this guild gad 40 is just really quite open sounding with impressive sustain. really happy with this find.

The Guild GAD line has plenty of fans. Many prefer them to the current off shore series.

I remember picking up a GAD 50 in a store and giving it a strum or two, while my kid was in drum lessons as was surprised it wasn't a US model. The price tag told me it couldn't be.
