Allison, Can You Explain What Internet Is?
Who could forget this immortal discussion from 1994:
Addendum--The "Allison" Katy Couric queries off camera was Allison Davis, the set writer/producer for the NBC News morning program.

A classic example of feigned ignorance designed to make an un-informed audience relate to the topic. SMH.
Good one! |

Interesting that in the clip the initial issue was the host trying to read aloud the @ sign, which has been on keyboards since the early days of typewriters and was used in hand written accounts back before that. That's not a knock, just an observation about his original issue. He'd have had the same issue of he was looking at a farrier's leger and saw a line for 12 horseshoes @ $1 each.
The off screen guy's "bulletin board" comment wasn't too bad for those of use who used Usenet and ftp and so on. Mosiac, the first generally available browser wouldn't have been around then. CORRECTION: I just saw 1994 for the clips date, and for some reason I thought it was earlier. Mosiac came out in '93.
