Default "Quacky" bass on electric guitar

I don't like the tone I'm getting on my low e, especially when I strum it hard... for lack of a better term it sounds quacky, not a pure, low bass sound.

I'm using a Macbook air with GB, mics into audiobox usb..... I've tried using both dynamic and condensor mics of my little Gibson amp with es-125. The amp sounds great but the tone of recording not so much. Is it likely to be mic placement issue?

Suggestions much appreciated.

Thanks for your compliment! That take of one good planet was done with my acoustic and I'm not having a real issue with the acoustic.

I'm kind of a rookie with the es-125 though and I'm really enjoying the tone I'm getting with it through the ga-5 amp. It's just when recording the amp, the base sounds "funny", not representing what I hear out of the amp.

Just not sure where the issue lies but I think it's with the usb processor or the mac sound card... does that make sense?

I'll try to post a sample of it later on today. thanks again!
