Thumbs up

Wow Juston, that has got to be one of the most beautiful guitars I've ever looked at. Really clean lines, no sprakly "bling" to speak of, but the wood itself is bling. Way cool! I'm slobbering over your build! I'd like to hear recordings of it when you get it. Maybe a Youtube video? Thanks for sharing your guitar.

Yes, we will have to support each other through this time of great trial when we wait for our custom Baraniks. My Mustapick should help me make it through.

Jenn, what do you think of the CX in comparison to the Meridian? What wood combination did you order for your Meridian?
Opps! I just noticed that I forgot to reply to this, sorry!

My wood will be Carpathian (probably) and Cocobolo. Trim materials similar to the one in the pictures. Mike is really familiar with the sound that I want, and he recommends the Carpathian. Mine will have the rounded cutaway.

To my ears, the Meridian has a smidge more bass presence, and the highs are a bit more clear than they are on my CX, which is cedar/cocobolo.

By the way, I was at McCabe's over the weekend and that JX is back out on the floor after a setup and string change. Sounds and plays great! The best sounding instrument in the store, IMO, followed by a GREAT sample of LJ's mahogany Martin.

Me too - used Baraniks don't come along all that often ...

I'm pretty sure that it's new. He places new instruments in a couple of stores, including McCabe's. As I recall, it's Engleman/Cocobolo. Airy highs to die for.

Thanks Jenn - Don't know why I just assumed it was used. Cocobolo is Mike's "standard" tonewood according to his website, so I bet you are right. I am going to shoot over tomorrow under the guise of a little "business trip" to take a look. Was kicking around a JX build with him earlier this year before the economy kind of took the wind out of my sails ...

I don't really like spalted maple for rosettes, but it looks outstanding as binding!
