The GS might give it a tad more "oomph", but in addition to a bass that has a nice chime, the trebles have a shimmery warmth. I would be willing to do a three-day trial for someone so they could hear it for themselves. I think that once someone holds it (love the comfort from the bevel) and plays it, they will love it.

I owned the twin sister to this guitar and can vouch for sonic descriptions. It is an incredible Taylor. Stunning good looks but the sound blows the looks out of the water. You really should consider this one!

A picture of mine. As you can see it has become my avatar as well.

Thanks!! Yours has a very pretty burst to the top, right? Looks great! I'm hoping someone wants it before I move it off to other sites. Have to increase the exposure, though. I wish I could afford to keep this and the commissioned one, but unfortunately, that's not the case. I don't know what something like this would cost new, although, with Sinker off the build list, I guess it is a moot point. Has to be close to $6K or more, when the wood was available (with the bevel and so on...).

Anyway, thanks again for the bump and that beautiful picture of yours!

Yeah Mike ... probably more like 6.3 or 6.5K now but like you said ... no sinker available. And yes that is what they called edgeburst on mine.

Sure hope someone here gives yours a good home. A guitar like that deserves a player.

Thanks so much, Dennis. More importantly, I can't wait to see your Kolaya!! Joel Stehr is going to be working on mine soon (hence this offering), so with yours already under way, I can't imagine how excited you are!

Thanks Montesdad!! Didn't get to list it on eBay this past week as I had other commitments. It won't happen this weekend either. I am open to offers that will keep it off of there, though, so please let me know if you want to discuss. Would really love to find this a nice home here on the AGF. More than anything, I want someone to start a NGD thread and tell me how this is the guitar they've been waiting for.

Thanks very much
Mike

Default Reduced...

In the interest of selling this before moving to eBay, I'm reducing the price to $4475, shipped and PayPal'd to the lower 48s. Let me know if you're interested.

Thanks all,
Mike

I can't believe that this has not sold. If you look at a Taylor build sheet, add up the additions to this beauty and figure out what it costs to build one like this...WOW! What a SWEET guitar.

As someone has owned a guitar with virtually the same wood combination, I can't speak highly enough of this guitar, or the person looking to sell it. I can only imagine it sounds stunningly warm and responsive. I think a BTO with these woods at this price is just incredible. We're talking about a custom built guitar with all of the finer appointments and much greater attention to detail, and in a wood (Sinker) that is no longer on the build list.

This seller is one I have been blessed to come to know through this forum and I can honestly say there isn't a nicer guy who "baby's" his guitars than Mike.

Someone should buy this. This price is fantastic for what you're getting!

Mike, wow...thank you!! Let's just go with all the stuff about the guitar being true, and yes, I'm a nice guy who babies his guitars, LOL. (Seriously, I have a 31 year old Takamine that is still in excellent condition...).

The guitar has a shimmery warmth. It's a Taylor, with a sweetness that is hard to define. It's why I'm open to playing it via Skype and hoping the beauty of the sound comes through. The bass is rich and the sound is full. I know I've said it before, but it is more beautiful now than ever, and the size + the bevel make it easy to hold and play.

Anyway, again, my humble thanks.

Mike

Pretty much all of the local churches in my area play Taylors and for good reasons - the beautiful classic style and the sound.

Who ever ends up with this, will be happy person -

Thanks guys! I have a feeling, given the economy or whatever, that nobody is going to purchase this, and I'm starting to have a change of thinking on it anyway. I may pull it off the For Sale list and put the maple GS on the board. This is an incredibly comfortable guitar to play, as well as (in my opinion at least) stunning to look at and listen to, and keeping it is not a bad idea. I was hoping to use the funds from selling this toward the custom being built, but I can do that if I sell the maple GS. I believe the new guitar will have the "guts" to replace that guitar in a group or band setting, and is going to be a bit bigger than the GS, so I'd have the GA for couch/family/smaller settings and the new guitar for band/larger settings. The maple guitar will be at a much lower price point (around $2800), therefore accessible to a larger audience.

I'm still open to offers, but not for much longer I guess.

Anyway, thanks for the kind words on the guitar!

I looked up Sinker Redwood on Taylors website before I committed to buying Mike B's Sinker/EIR GS. The 2012 Fall Limited was Sinker/Macassar Ebony; it retailed for better than $8,000. $4475 is a steal (so is the deal Mike gave me on his, BTW)!

I missed that last post, somehow, and thank you for it! I found it because I figured I'd bump this back up again. I'm actually going to list another acoustic guitar I own (the other Taylor in my signature), and see if that sells. If it does, I'll probably keep this as it is incredibly comfortable to play since it has the bevel. (Not against working out a deal for both, though... )

So, if you have interest, please let me know!

Thanks,
Mike
