I remember seeing this guitar when looking for samples of what I wanted when I was in the planning stages of my BTO this past spring and found out it was sold.
I ended up going with sinker for the top and cocobolo back and sides with adi braces and GA body shape.
I love the bass!

It is pretty amazing how rich the bass is. The guitar sounds lush and full. I'm sure yours came out great, and glad this was part of the inspiration!!

Whoever winds up with this gorgeous guitar will be really happy. I have played and owned many Sinker guitars, and own a Redwood/Macassar guitar right now. They are really extra special. And, I can say with full confidence that Mike is a GREAT guy and one I would feel comfortable doing business with on ANY occasion. Buy with confidence from a super guy and get a one of a kind guitar. Wish I had the extra funds because I would own this one myself!

Once again, I thought I'd post a clip of the guitar so you can hear it amplified through a simple PA, no effects at all, and nothing fancy as far as playing. Please pay no attention to the unsightly swaying of the singer, lol, and just focus on the basic strumming.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d23htMWEne8

If anyone wants to hear it as picked up through a microphone rather than the ES system, I can do that through a plug into my system or even via a Skype session through a basic Logitech webcam.

Thanks all!

Default FS: Taylor Sinker/Macassar GA BTO

Thanks for the bump up! I'm hoping that this gets some renewed interest because Taylor is not offering Sinker tops now. And, since the listing and change to medium-light strings (at the suggestion of the Taylor folks at a road show) the guitar has continued to open up, and gain in projection. It now handles more aggressive strumming (easily medium strumming) as well as keeping the overall lush tones. If I didn't already have a commission in the works (build starting very soon), I wouldn't have done it. The size and the bevel make this guitar a joy to hold and play.

But, my build is starting soon, so this stays up for sale. Again, Sinker isn't available through Taylor now, so this guitar is even more special.

Thanks again!!

I've gotten some interest and have returned the PMs. Just wanted to move this back to the top again. If you are thinking about this, please let me know if you would like any other information. I'd be happy to arrange a Skype session for anyone if you want to hear it. Not sure how sound quality will translate over the Internet, but I'm certainly willing to try.

Again, many thanks to all who look, and of course to those who've written.

Mike

I've had a few more nibbles, but no bites, so this coming weekend I will list it on eBay. I would much rather it find a home with an AGF member who will post an "NGD" thread, and who I know will truly enjoy it. But, it must be sold, so i need to expand its exposure. if you have any interest, please let me know.

Thanks very much,
Mike

Oh my...Come on AGF'ers, don't let this beauty slip out of the fold and go to the "dark side" LOL. I call it "feebay", and a guitar as pretty as this one should be able to find a great home RIGHT HERE! I've known Mike for quite some time and you can be certain that this guitar is in fabulous "exactly as advertised" condition.

Thanks Mike.

I was playing it last night, and I think I am beginning to understand "opening up." The guitar has gained in projection, the bass is rich and chimes sweetly, and if I didn't have a commission so close to getting started (with a deposit I would lose), I would keep it. It really is all the guitar I could ever need. It has a tone like nothing I have heard in any production guitar. Everyone says that, lol. And then sells it. So I understand if people are skeptical.

To be clear, I ordered the new guitar commission well over a year ago, and this guitar was relatively new at the time. I didn't know about a break-in period and that new guitars often require time to develop, so when I first got it, it was incredibly sweet, but quietly so. In the intervening time, the guitar has blossomed, and I believe it will continue to develop into something even more special.

But, the build process for the new one is getting underway, and I would lose my deposit if I backed out now, so this one needs to go. Again, if you have any interest, please ask questions, and I will provide any information you need.

I would welcome an opportunity to play the guitar via Skype, if that would help. Not sure of the sound quality that way, but I would certainly try so you can hear.

Thanks all,
Mike

I can totally relate to this--I was playing my sinker/Macassar GS last night and was noticing the same thing. It has really opened up in the last few months and continues to do so the more it is played. Someone will be getting a great guitar here that will only get better with time!

Thanks for this. I was hoping I wasn't "wishful thinking" it! I think this is a really magical combination, giving a very rich tone, yet yielding a bit of note separation. Is that your impression of yours as well?

Definitely so. I'm also loving the bottom end that this wood combination yields--very warm and full. Not certain if the GS shape has some to do with that, but I'm sure the wood combo does as well. Highly recommended!
