Having spent a lot of time on Skye clambering around the Black Cuillin, often on the end of a rope, I've always really appreciated the video above. You always start at sea level, and it's always a very long and often vertical way down should you slip up. Even a minor fall is unpleasant due to the rock being very coarse and abrasive gabbro, strangely grippy when climbing bit slippery in the wet. Here's a younger and reflective magirus in 2002 on Sgürr nan Gillean (Peak of the Young Men), before age, lethargy and fear took over
