I didn’t read the whole article (don’t have access) but that house in no way reflects the type of house I pictured JT growing up in. I would have assume old world, Southern style, not 50’s modern. Interesting.

Couldn’t access the article either, but I always imagined he grew up in a decent house as I believe his dad was the Dean at NC state. His writing always painted a picture of inspiring natural surroundings..

Gorgeous. JT has a lovely aesthetic, perhaps it started by growing up in this home?

Interesting.....there is a similarity to some of the design of his studio, called "the barn" in W. Mass where he permanently lives. And......
his summer home in Jamestown R.I. where I live, which has just been completed. Each have a bit of that "craftsman" influence of FLW.
Was cool to see and talk with him briefly this summer as he hung out in his driveway. (Kept a respectful distance, but offered a welcome!). The house is surprisingly open to the waterfront on a back street, where we often walk our dog. As a dog lover, he was interested and asked about the breed of our mini Golden Doodle.

It's a tricky line to draw.

Personally I would use "Prairie" for houses and "Craftsman" for furnishings, with the two coexisting.
