Advice on Blu Ray players
Hi all,
My Phillips blu ray player has died (it starts to boot up, then stops outputting a signal) so it's time to replace it. My question is simple: is there a visibly noticeable difference between 1080p (which is what my Phillips was) and 4K (which my TV is capable of)? The price difference between the two is significant but, if the 4K capability is really a 'wow' factor, it may be worth it to bite the bullet now and upgrade. |

For me, it was, especially with HDR or Dolby Vision if your TV supports it.

Yes there is a noticeable difference
I believe that 4 K Blue Ray are now starting at about $150 or so. As robj144 stated I would also think about HDR and Dolby Vision (if your TV has it) but I believe those players (particularly Dolby Vision ) are more expensive yet. Then the other consideration is how much 4k Blue Ray titles do you have or are willing to purchase going forward . Which are available in growing numbers of titles but are more expensive also . I think Sony has a 4k player at $150 or so . Unfortunately the one Player I would have recommend without hesitation, is no longer being made which is the OPPO 203 , And while some NOS are still available, they are now 3 times the retail price of when they were in production which was $499
