I think I screwed up the links, but the songs are: John Hurt - Louis Collins/Angles Carried Him Away, and Guy Clark - Stuff that Works

On an instrumental note - this is from a band known more for their amped up electric guitar sound, but I've always liked it. It's a pretty sad song, and it's solo acoustic guitar. It's off of the "Deliverance" album from 1994.

Dominik Martzy’s “Melody of Life” is fantastic in a melancholy and somber way. If I were skilled enough and could find the tabs I’d learn eventually.

An instrumental somewhere between sad and melancholy.

For the sake of variety, this one works well acoustically, with multiple instrumental sections and good chords for soloing.
And it’s sad.

Lovely solo guitar arrangement of a sad Stevie Wonder song.

I read through this thread a little quick but I didn't see the first song that came to mind......"I'm so lonesome I could cry" by Hank Williams
don't get much sadder than that!

Barry, When I heard you play “Mairi Bham Og” on the Show and Tell section of the forum I immediately thought of this thread. What a achingly beautiful tune. It’s now on my “To Learn” list. Thanks, Tom |
