Default SCTV and Bizarre tv shows.

Anyone remember these skit shows from the 70s and early 80s? SCTV with a fantastic cast (John Candy, Joe Flaherty, Eugene Levy, Rick Moranis, Harold Ramis, Martin Short, Dave Thomas, Andrea Martin, Catherine O'Hara to name a few). Bizarre with John Byner, Bob Einstein (Super Dave Osborne) and so many others. Both shows filmed out of Toronto.

Bob and Doug McKenzie and the Great White North ... still classic.

Remember SCTV well, Dru.

Guy Cabellero, 3D TV, Fire Alarm Snooze Control for that extra 5, 10 or 15 minutes of extra sleep you so desperately need.

Loved John Candy and Eugene Levy... well, the whole cast actually.

Gonna check out some SCTV YouTube videos now that I have the Amazon Firestick.

Oh yes.

SCTV is part of the soundtrack of my teens.
If I recall, they did the show out of Edmonton for a couple of seasons.

My favorite scene is the opening where everyone is throwing their TVs out the window as SCTV came on the air.

“Kids In The Hall” was another great, bizarre Canadian production.

Yes, so much talent there. Of the SCTV group, to my personal taste Joe Flaherty was my favorite, and one of the few in the group that isn't well-known for work since.

There's something about the upper Midwest/Great Lakes region and comedy in the mid 20th century. Places like Minneapolis, Toronto, and Chicago punched way above their weight in improv comedy.

Yeah, I remember finding SCTV... I think I was in college. And it was about the time SNL cranked up. That was a great pair of shows. I can't remember the folks who were on SCTV, but I remember laughing myself silly.

Funny you should mention SNL as quite a few SCTV skits ended up there (uncredited of course). SNL also stole some bits from from a local NJ show called The Uncle Floyd Show. I specifically remember the Julia Child skit on Uncle Floyd at least a year before it hit NBC airwaves with Dan Akroyd.

I didn't know that. I definitely remember the Julia Child skit. That was pretty funny at midnight on Saturdays.
