Roses and Cigarettes
Unfortunately the lead singer recently lost her battle with cancer. The guitarist Angela Petrilli is still out there making a go of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDCE52Syiqo

I think Mary Spender on guitar is pretty special.

Some great choices. Big Larkin Poe fan, and their previous band, the Lovell Sisters.
Sticking with more recent artists, no slight meant to Joni and Bonnie and Emmylou. Sarah Jarosz And with Octave Mandolin And with "I'm With Her" along with Aoife O'Donovan and Sara Watkins Sierra Hull I'll go away now... |

Have to agree with many of the suggestions showing the "women with guitars" can be easily as good as the guys, even though their prowess may not be so well-known outside of our community here. But I can't believe no-one's mentioned Janis Ian! As well as being a fine songwriter and singer, she's an excellent guitarist too - here's one which is always one of the high points of one of her concerts:
Also, I'd like to add Vicki Genfan to the thread - there's lots of her stuff on yt, both percussive and more traditional, but I'd like to draw to everyone's attention to the free lessons she's putting up via Truefire. Here's her latest: And another of her with Sally Barker, who's no slouch either, and of whom I 've been a fan for over thirty years. If you like electric blues too, there's Samantha Fish and best of the lot, Joanne Shaw-Taylor. And I'll leave it to someone else to correct the glaring omissions from the list which are Rory Block, Bonnie Raitt, Joan Armatrading, Jonatha Brooke, Brook Williams... Thumbs up for the Sierra Hull and Sarah Jarosz callouts. Both really amazing mandolin players. Hull is just effortless with her playing, whether it be a mandolin or guitar. What I love about Jarosz on the other hand is her absolutely gorgeous voice. Her recent covers of "Raven" and "The Way You Look Tonight" are really beautiful.

This is one of my favorites..... Jess Greenberg. I've often thought about that video as a way to learn the piece, but I keep getting..... distracted.

Stephanie Jones is a great up and coming classical guitarist, that' I've gotten into within the past year or so:
