I am clean shaven with a tidy moustache. I agree with the food smell on myself. After eating a thick home made Burger, or soup. I am off to the bathroom to soap up and rinse off my moustache. I don’t want to be smelling my dinner all night long. Never grown a beard, but wore a goatee for many years. Found the goatee to be high maintenance as I was in a business work environment.

I had either a full beard or just a mustache from 1966 until 10-12 years ago, when I saw a picture of me (just mustache) and realized how grey it was. Then, after severe chemo treatments in 2015 got rid of my hair (head and body), when it grew back, the grey was gone, so the beard is back. Interestingly, the hair on my head, that had always been strait as an arrow, came in wavy! Unfortunately, the new hair is also thinning, a problem I didn't have with my "original" hair.

I got expelled from my secondary School for growing a beard at age 18.
Didn't mater much as I'd finished al my exams - just meant that I wasn't invited to the presentation and the daft headmaster tore up my certificates.
Not once in 42 years of my working life did anyone ever ask me to shown those certificates!

I've had' em long, short and had just discovered how to have a nice short coating of white beard in 2016 but the radio-therapy in 2017 burned away the hair follicles on one side, so I satisfy myself with a small goatee and m rather large "Silly Moustache"

I have no issues with my 'tache taking on food smells as I dolt eat stuff like greasy burgers, and have to clean my teeth after every feed and, yes, I do keep my facial topiary exceptionally clean.

A study in the 1970s showed those with beards had 1500 times the concentration of bacteria in their facial hair than clean cut people.

It makes you look older.

Also,I don't want to be another lemming and follow the trend.

Yes, I am an outspoken person and I expect, as in the past, to be heavily berated for my opinion here.
Some folks believe that negative attention is better than no attention at all. I gather you don’t hold that belief.

Not going to berate...not even lightly. Wouldn’t know what to berate you about.

Hope you are enjoying your youthful appearance, sans beard. I’m sure you are happy to have fewer bacteria in your system.

The only trend I'm a follower of is not worrying about what others are doing.

I had shorter hair and a beard when both were the same color. When the beard turned grey and the hair didn't, I lost the beard and grew my hair long.

I shave every 2 weeks now as opposed to every 2 days.
The money I save on razors will go to paying off the new guitar i have coming in
