Do veneered CF guitars require more care than plain ones, in respect to cold or heat?

No they don't. I opted for a satin finish on my X30 and upcoming X20-12 so I don't have to worry about fingerprints, and it should be easier to repair any finish issues should they arise. Also there's no glare to "blind" the folks in the front row...

I’ve never seen anything to suggest that they do. The veneer is completely enclosed by the finish, and not exposed to the atmosphere in any way.

Alistair has said that the veneer is fully infused with the resin during molding. I cannot picture that it would make any real difference in durability.

Without veneer! I love the nice 3D-effect of the the green-tinted weave of my Emerald X20 Emerald Green as light plays upon it. Going Carbon? Go Straight-up Carbon!

I just bought a plain black CF guitar, but if asked for my preference, the veneered guitar would be my pick. They’re extremely lovely instruments and one of the most unique looks in guitars today.

Back and forth, back and forth. Thank you all for the great input and suggestions. Treating myself especially good, veneer wins.

Nothing wrong with that. Buy yourself a present -- a woody upgrade.
We are a mixed family. I like the raw CF weave in my Emerald, Rainsong and Blackbird CF guitars. My wife loves her woody veneers (bubinga and koa) on her X7's. The big advantage to pure Cf is buying from stock and having it in hand two weeks later. A veneer is a custom order, so 4-5 months. Patience is a virtue, or so they say.... |

Emerald has a good supply of in-stock woodies at not-bad prices. those would be shipped quickly.

Earl I tend to like the weave. My wife doesn’t play, but tends to like the woody veneers for a unique look. No need for real patience here, bought an X7 woody from stock.... |

Evan Spot on. Bought the Red Spruce X7 that was in stock. Originally thought I might go with padauk, but it’s a bit busy for me. The spruce was more subtle.... |
